unable 2 reconnect 2 internet - ComputerProblems.org Free Computer Support & Technology Discussion

hi,
i have a 'major' problem @ the moment. several days ago i installed tcp/ip optimizer, and since then i have been unable 2 access the net. i get the message that the address does not correspond to a known site and could not be loaded. etc,etc.
i am running win2000 -networked w/ xp on a 2way sat connexion(256/64-downlink/uplink) thru a router[barricade-g(SMC2804WBRP-G)]
AFTER I could not reconnect i 'restored' to the original settings. i still was unable to re-connect to the internet. So I tried WinSockXPfixit and still no go. Also tried restoring to windows default, however I still cannot connect to the internet. Please help asap..!!!
