Hello

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I'm going to ask anyway. My computer shuts itself off without warning and at anytime. Anyone have any Ideas why?

Hi there, we'll need a bit more detail such as;

which OS do you have?
have any changes been made to the PC lately? e.g. extra RAM/drives etc
have you checked that all fans are running ok? it could be an over-heating problem.
does the PC power off or just reboot itself?
Following on from the above, how long after first turning on does the problem happen?
What workload is there on the system? i.e. if more programs are running (especially system-hungry games) does the problem happen sooner and more often? If so this might well be an overheating problem.

Shut the PC down and open up the case. Leave the power cord connected and earth yourself to prevent static build up. Take each cable connecter in turn and uplug and re connect them. Pop each memory card out and push home immediately - keep handling of memory cards to the absolute minumum. Make sure any PCI cards etc are fully pushed home. Look for a build up of dust and fluff inside the case and give the system a good blowing thru to remove this.

Power up the PC with the case open and checks the fans are running as mentioned above.

** If you do not feel confident in carrying out these checks please do find someone who has hands-on experience.

Let us know how things progress.
