Hi Guys, i recently had to format my computer... when it was back up and running smoothly - the sound doesn't work. a friend told me to find out what the motherboard is so that i can download the sound driver. all i could find out is that the motherboard is a MSI Platinum, can anyone tell me how to find out the version of the motherboard, i got the computer off a friend and dont have any of the manuals etc..

maybe i can download a generic sound driver that suits all MSI motherboards?

Hi, try SiSoft Sandra from SiSoftware Zone

There is a Shareware version there which you can install and use to analyse your system and hopefully identify the motherboard that you have. You can then use that info to get the drivers from the MSI site that macrobt identified.

Once you've finished with it you can then uninstall the program.

thanks guys. i managed to get the sound driver downloaded by doing a bit of guess work on the MSI website. sound is working fine now, thanks again

Another great tool for the future is Blearc: Belarc - System Management For The Internet Age it will pull all the information from your board, software, etc.. Great tool and free.
