ati fix that saved my life!!
This fix has just saved my e-life. I have a saphirre radeon 9800 pro 128mb. Now I started enouctering a fun little error which has been labeled the "inifite loop error", which I have been told is actually a common name given to a whole group of errors that have the same effect in the end. From what I understand my particular error was caused when my graphics accelerator lost contact with my bios/ram. So basically the graphics accelerator is sending messages that are going nowhere and it rather quickly causes a crash. Ati knows about this problem and has created the vpu recover system. The vpu recover doesn't actaully stop the error it just contains it to my vid card so that it is the only thing that crashes. I tried all of there possible fixes, including updating drivers, flashing my mobo, clearing my cmos, and changing basic and advanced bios settings, needless to say none of these actaully worked. I eventually ended up turning off my agp and fastwrite, which stopped the crashing, but greatly reduces the ability of my card. I am a dedicated gamer and I could run lesser games such as counter-strike 1.6 and ns with no problems, but when I tried to play higher end games such as counter-strike source or hl2 my fps stays at a constant 10-15. I'm pretty sure this is due to the agp and fastwrite being turned off. Finally I got ahold of a fix. So far it has worked for me and quite a few other people.
