Archiving large files

I have a large video file (9+ GBytes) on my laptop. I have moved this successfully to my PC over my wireles network. The PC still has over 25 GBytes free on C:. To the PC is attached an external hard drive with 300+ GBytes free on it. The whole point of getting the large external drive was to archive video files. However, when I try to move the video file onto the external drive I get the message "Not enough Disk Space"!! What is going on and how do I overcome the problem?

Doncaster Pete.

So your trying to move it from the PC with 25GB free onto the external HDD? How much space does that PC say the external HDD has free? How was the external drive formatted? Is there other data on the external drive?
