I know that Norton might rock, but myself personally, I can't tolerate the way it uses all of my ram and slows my computer down. I use spy bot, but that isn't enough. Is there anyone out there who knows of an antivirus program that will not eat up my bank account or my computer's capacity to function at a normal rate? Thank you for your time......

The FREE edition of AVG is good, just google AVG Free edition.

You'll also need some Firewall software, unless your broadband router has one built in. I find the Comodo is excellent or you can go for ZoneAlarm which also has an excellent reputation.

If you are prepared to pay for a licensed package the I would suggest Kaspersky 2009 home edition. It combines anti-virus, anti-spam and Firewall PLUS it doesn't hog all the system resources and it is NOT expensive either. There are 2 flavours, Kaspersky 2009 Internet Security which includes the Firewall and Kaspersky 2009 Anti-Virus which doesn't.

Yes , AVG free edition is good. And you can turn on firewall in your computer.
If your computer by many people, i think your computer will not infect by virus until damage or destroy the system.

Indeed is ok, also Avira and nod32 wich i use for couple years and i had no problems.
