so recently (mid-December) my computer became infected with a horrible pop-up virus. This would pop up on Internet Explorer even when I was using another browser like Firefox, although nothing would pop-up when I was not on a browser (but still on-line.)
I have AVG free-ware virus scan but it wouldn't pick up the root of my virus problem.
So in desperation I manually combed the the files in C:\WINDOWS\system32
by doing this I deleted over 20 viruses from this folder. I believe that I eradicated the pop-up virus, but now I have this virus that I
cannot delete!!
It was created on January 10, 2009. I fear that if I don't get rid of it it will bring in more viruses.
The file name is fccyaBrR.dll When I attempt to delete it this a message comes up saying it is in use by another program. So I attempted to unregistered it in the command menu, but this didn't work. Then I went into safe mode and attempted to delete it. It still wouldn't go away! So I opened it up in notepad to try and change the the contents of the .dll file and corrupt it, but it wouldn't let me save changes to it, even when I stopped the process explorer.exe.
Please help me get rid of this beast!! Any suggestions are appreciated
