Hey, i currently have AVG anti virus. What is the best anti virus software...recommended?

AVG is a good product, we use AVAST for our company and for our clients.

A quick search of the internet will provide you with good reviews on the major AV products. All seem to perform well at their main task. However, the big security suites can be a pain in the butt. I got tired of paying $40 to $60 per year to slow down my PC. Somehow it is less painful if the products are free. I have used McAffee, Norton, and CA products and found they all bogged down my computer more than necessary. CA especially not recommended for dial up. When I contacted suppport, they said they were aware of the problem and I just had to live with it. NO I DONT. I actually was turning off the product at times to keep it from downloading so I could use the internet.
I now use Avast for antivirus and Comodo for firewall, both free and less troublesome. I have also used AVG and Zone Alarm with no problems.(I had a boss who refused to pay for updates so I had no choice.) Just dont go naked, it hurts us all.

One of the best out there is Kaspersky, it is recommended by PC for one of the best anti-virus softwares out there.

I tried Avast and its great too. For the moment Im using Kaspersky,its one of the best anti-virus software available now and its also the latest. Ive been using it for two months now and its working great in my pc.

i'll go for avast. It really works for me. It detects viruses fast and kill them all. But AVG is good too so i can recommend it still for you.

yeah Kaspersky is good but i could recommend you to Avira Antivirus.. It really is the best antivirus for me based from my experiences on worms, viruses, trojans and spywares..

anything is good that works and doesn't hog resources.

Avast, has worked well for me over last 2-3 years

why do say this? We have been using AVAST for about 5 years, and are resellers of the software as well. Just curious why this is the worst?

That's a good anti virus there but I fully recommend you to use Avira anti Virus.
It's so reliable.It easily detect all kinds of viruses.
