Help with a virus - ComputerProblems.org Free Computer Support & Technology Discussion

A couple of days ago a virus called W32/FUrootkit.f infected my computer I had NTLs Netguard antivirus but it got thru that so I loaded a old version of Norton antivirus which seemed to get rid of it but now my computer freezes for no reason and programmes shut down I think the virus is still there but has hidden itself can any one help or do I have to purge the whole system.

Never heard of that virus.. So your Computer freezes after you installed norton? Can I ask you one thing, Did you uninstall your previous antivirus.. it might have conflicts..

Hi, what you have seems to be a 'rootkit' type virus. You can download McAfee rootkit detective from this location:-

McAfee Threat Center

You also need to make sure that any anti-virus software you have installed is right up-to-date to make sure it can detect and clear any virus infections.

I think the virus is still on your computer. First, you need to uninstall your anti-virus. then install an updated anti-virus and scan again your computer. If your computer still freezes and the program shut down itself, i think it's better if you try to reformat your hard drive.
